Freshman guard Dusty Hannahs hit 4-of-5 3-pointers and sixth man Jaye Crockett scored 13 points as the visiting Red Raiders opened Big 12 play with a victory in their first true road game.

Jordan Tolbert added 11 points and nine rebounds for Texas Tech (8-4, 1-0 Big 12), which began the season with a record 11-game homestand. Devonta Abron led TCU (9-5, 0-1) with 16 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

Texas Tech led 29-22 at halftime behind Hannahs’ 3-for-3 performance from beyond the arc. The freshman, who was coming off a season-high 21 points against North Carolina A&T, finished with 12.

TCU sophomore guard Kyan Anderson, who came in averaging a team-high 13 points, was held to six and 1-of-12 shooting.

While Texas Tech hit 6-of-10 from deep, TCU went 1-of-7 from beyond the arc and shot 35.2 percent overall (19-of-54).

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Red Raiders improved to 6-11 in Big 12 openers. … Texas Tech’s Chris Walker became the first new Red Raiders coach to win his conference opener on the road since Dell Morgan won in Las Cruces against New Mexico State 48-24 on Jan. 17, 1933. … Texas Tech snapped a two-game skid against TCU and leads the series 73-47.
