Iowa State 76, UMKC 61: Tyrus McGee came off the bench to hit six 3-pointers as the visiting Cyclones used a 14-0 second-half run to shake off the Kangaroos.

Held to just 30 points in the first half, Iowa State (9-3) trailed 39-35 with 15:54 remaining before running past UMKC (4-7). McGee, Korie Lucious and Chris Babb sank 3-pointers during the run, and Georges Niang’s free throw with 11:11 left gave Iowa State a 49-39 advantage.

McGee finished with a team-high 20 points, hitting five 3-pointers in the second half. The Cyclones started the night with the nation’s seventh-high scoring offense at 82.7 points.

Babb added 12 points for the Cyclones. Lucious hit three 3-pointers, finishing with 11 points. Iowa State, which has won three in a row, hit 11 of 23 3-point attempts.

UMKC finished 10-of-19 from 3-point range. Estan Tyler made three 3-pointers, leading the Kangaroos with 17 points. Nate Rogers added 13 points, hitting four 3-pointers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa State led by eight points with nine minutes left in the first half, but the Kangaroos rallied to pull within 30-29 at halftime. … The Cyclones scored just two points in the final 4:58 of the first half. ... Iowa State shot 56.4 percent from the field.
