UCLA 89, Long Beach State 70: Jordan Adams scored 24 points to lead the hot-shooting Bruins over the visiting 49ers.

UCLA (8-3) shot 58.9 percent from the field including 8-of-16 from beyond the arc to win for the third straight time. Shabazz Muhammad added 21 points for the Bruins and Larry Drew II had 14 points and nine assists.

The 49ers (4-7) were led by Dan Jennings, who scored a career-high 27 points while hitting 13 of 15 shots. James Ennis finished with 20 points.

UCLA, which trailed only in the game's early moments, made 15 of its first 21 shots from the field and built a 12-point lead in the first half. Ennis hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut the deficit to 47-38 at the break.

When Jennings and Ennis went to the bench after picking up their fourth fouls with more than eight minutes left to play, UCLA quickly went on a 10-2 run to put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Long Beach State transfers Keala King (Arizona State) and Tony Freeland (DePaul) did not play as the team awaited clearance from the school. Edgar Garibay, who transferred from Loyola Marymount, made his 49ers' debut but did not score. ...Oscar Robertson and Jerry West were in attendance. ...UCLA improved to 12-1 all-time against Long Beach State. The 49ers had won the last meeting in 2009.
