No. 21 Georgetown 81, Western Carolina 68: Greg Whittington scored 13 of his career-high 25 points in the first half and grabbed 13 rebounds as the host Hoyas breezed to their sixth consecutive victory.

Whittington previously set the bar with 18 points versus Liberty on Nov. 14. On Saturday, the sophomore forward shot 8-for-12 from the field and drilled three 3-pointers.

Jabril Trawick also bested his career high in the first half by scoring 11 of his 14 points. Otto Porter had 12 points and eight rebounds for Georgetown (9-1), which improved to 7-0 at home this season and has won 13 straight at the Verizon Center.

Tom Tankelewicz drained five 3-pointers en route to a brilliant 17-point performance in the first half. The junior forward finished with six from beyond the arc for a career-high 24 points for Western Carolina (4-7), which has dropped three of its last four.

Whittington, who entered the game averaging 11.1 points, set his career high by drilling a 3-pointer to give Georgetown a 59-38 advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Whittington's 25 points were the most for a Georgetown player since Jason Clark scored 31 versus DePaul on Jan. 17. ... The Hoyas seized a 42-30 lead at halftime, and they can thank their considerable time at the foul line for gaining that edge. Georgetown was 15-for-20 from the charity stripe in the first half while Western Carolina was just 3-for-6. ... Tankelewicz has made at least five 3-pointers in a game on five occasions this season.
