Doug McDermott scored 17 of his 27 points in the second half and the visiting Bluejays pulled away from their intrastate rivals.

McDermott topped 20 points for the sixth time as he shot 10-of-19, including his second dunk of the season. He scored nine points in the opening 5:03 as Creighton (8-1) opened a 43-28 lead and finished off his best game against the Cornhuskers by scoring the final five points.

Gregory Echenique posted his second double-double by collecting 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Bluejays. Reserve Ethan Wragge added nine points on three 3-pointers and Grant Gibbs had a season-high 10 assists.

Dylan Talley led the Cornhuskers (6-2) with 14 points and Brandon Ubel added 10. Ray Gallegos, coming off consecutive 20-point games, was held to just five on 2-of-8 shooting.

Creighton never trailed after Gallegos' 3-pointer gave Nebraska a 5-4 lead three minutes into the game. The Bluejays steadily increased their advantage and took a 28-17 lead at halftime thanks to a 14-5 run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: McDermott moved past Benoit Benjamin into 10th place on Creighton's all-time scoring list. He now has 1,579 points. ... The Bluejays have won 11 of the last 14 meetings but had dropped their previous three games at Nebraska. ... Gibbs posted his fourth career double-digit assist game and first since Jan. 13 against Illinois State.
