Anthony Bennett scored 16 points as the Runnin' Rebels started fast and survived a sluggish second half to defeat the visiting Rainbow Warriors.

Savon Goodman had 13 points off the bench and Katin Reinhardt chipped in 10 points and seven assists for UNLV (5-1), which has won five straight over Hawaii.

Christian Standhardinger led all scorers with 27 points for the Rainbow Warriors (4-2). Hawaii's other four starters combined to go 8-for-31 (25.8 percent) from the floor.

The Rebels led by as many as 26 points in the first half. However, after going nearly three minutes without a point to begin the second half their lead was down to 49-32 and the Rainbow Warriors pulled within eight points at 61-53 on Vander Joaquim's free throws with 6:03 left.

Reinhardt and Justin Hawkins both hit 3-pointers to answer for UNLV and push the host's advantage to 67-54 with 5:13 to go. Hawaii got as close as eight points once more but went the final 2:58 without a point.

GAME NOTEBOOK: UNLV was 5-for-7 from 3-point range in the first half. Hawaii was 0-for-10. ... The Rebels finally play their first road game of the season Tuesday at Portland. ... The Rainbow Warriors got four assists from their starters against 14 turnovers.
