LaShay Page scored 20 points to lead five Gamecocks in double digits as South Carolina pulled away from the visiting Bears to improve to 2-0 under first-year coach Frank Martin.

Eric Smith added 17 points and Brenton Williams had 14 for South Carolina, which shot 52.6 percent to help overcome 20 turnovers. Brian Richardson and R.J. Slawson added 10 points apiece for the Gamecocks.

Justin Black scored 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and Anthony Hubbard added 15 points for the Bears (1-3), who also committed 20 turnovers and were outrebounded 35-22. DeWayne Jackson had 11 points, six assists and five steals but also committed eight turnovers for the Bears.

Page, a transfer from Southern Mississippi, has averaged 19.5 points in his first two games with the Gamecocks.

Smith hit five free throws in the final 1:31 to put it away and finish one point short of his career high.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Gamecocks were without freshman forward Michael Carrera (concussion), who had 17 points and 15 rebounds in a season-opening win against Milwaukee. … South Carolina improved to 21-1 all-time against current schools from the MEAC. … Morgan State dropped to 1-3 against current SEC schools.
