Ryan Boatright had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists to help the Huskies hold off the Demon Deacons in the first round of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam.

Shabazz Napier scored eight of his 16 points during a 10-0 run that gave Connecticut a 59-53 lead, and the Huskies (3-0) didn't trail again as they continued their impressive start under first-year coach Kevin Ollie.

Codi Miller-McIntyre led Wake Forest with 21 points, while C.J. Harris added 17 points and Travis McKie chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds.

Wake Forest (1-1) had six players score in double figures in a season-opening win over Radford, but the Demon Deacons got just six points from their bench Friday, while UConn's reserves combined for 25.

Enosch Wolf added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench and DeAndre Daniels scored 12 points for Connecticut, which won this tournament in 2008.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Huskies will face Quinnipiac in the second round at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, and the Demon Deacons take on Iona at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday. … UConn leads the all-time series 2-1. This was the first meeting between the teams since 1991. … Napier scored all of his points in the final 10:08.
