Ben McLemore scored 25 points and Elijah Johnson added 18 as the host Jayhawks rallied in the second half to defeat the upstart Mocs.

Jeff Withey added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Kansas (2-1) used a 19-1 spurt in the second half to turn a 12-point deficit into a six-point lead that thwarted the upset hopes of Chattanooga (1-1).

Farad Cobb scored 21 points on seven 3-pointers for the Mocs, shooting 6-for-7 in the opening half to help Chattanooga to a 36-28 halftime lead.

A 3-pointer by Ronrico White gave the Mocs a 42-30 lead with 18:05 to play before Kansas awoke. McLemore and Johnson scored six points apiece during the game-changing surge and Naadir Tharpe culminated the run with a 3-pointer - his only points - to give the Jayhawks a 49-43 edge with 12:44 remaining.

Kansas boosted the lead to 10 on a free throw by McLemore with 4:58 remaining and pulled away down the stretch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Johnson was 7-of-10 from the field and connected on four of Kansas’ seven 3-pointers. … Cobb hit four 3-pointers in the final five minutes of the first half. The Mocs were 11-for-23 overall from behind the arc. … Kansas committed 10 of its 13 turnovers in the first half. Chattanooga committed 18 miscues.
