No. 13 Creighton 77, Alabama-Birmingham 60: Reserve guard Josh Jones came off the bench to score all 18 of his points in the second half as the Bluejays rallied from a 10-point deficit to overcome the visiting Blazers.

Creighton (2-0) used two big runs to douse any UAB upset hopes despite getting only five points from junior All-American Doug McDermott. Trailing 45-35 early in the second half, the Bluejays went on a 15-3 run to take a 50-48 lead following a three-point play by center Gregory Echenique, who had 13 points, 16 rebounds and four blocked shots.

UAB (1-1) was still hanging around until a 20-2 Creighton run put the game away late. Isiah Jones came off the bench to lead the Blazers with 16 points as he connected on 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Rod Rucker and Jordan Swing added 12 each.

The Bluejays also got 13 points from Grant Gibbs and 12 from Ethan Wragge. Creighton shot 50.9 percent from the field, hitting 27 of 53.

GAME NOTEBOOK: McDermott's five points was the second-lowest total of his career and snapped a streak of 37 consecutive games in double figures, the second longest in school history. ... Creighton committed just 10 turnovers and 11 fouls as UAB shot only five free throws. ... The Blazers have now lost eight straight games in front of crowds larger than 10,000.
