DePaul 91, UC Riverside 59: Brandon Young scored a game-high 20 points and Cleveland Melvin added 16 as the Blue Demons rolled in their season opener against the visiting Highlanders.

Leading 39-28 at halftime, DePaul used a 23-6 run early in the second half to put away UC Riverside. Young was 3-of-4 from 3-point range and added five assists while Melvin, the leading returning scorer in the Big East, contributed seven rebounds and a career-high five steals.

The Blue Demons connected on 49.3 percent from the field and were 11-for-21 from 3-point range.

UC Riverside, which committed 24 turnovers, was led by 17 points from Josh Fox.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The 32-point win was the largest for DePaul since a 33-point victory over Chicago State on Nov. 14, 2010. ... Melvin has scored in double figures in 15 straight games. ... UC Riverside will stay in Chicago as the Highlanders play at Illinois-Chicago on Sunday.
