Oregon State 69, Washington State 64: Joe Burton scored five of his 15 points in the final two minutes and ninth-seeded Oregon State overcame a poor shooting game by top scorer Jared Cunningham to beat No. 8 seed Washington State in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament in Los Angeles.

Devon Collier added 19 points for Oregon State (18-13), which advances to face No. 1 seed Washington on Thursday. The win snapped the Beavers’ four-game losing streak to Washington State (15-16).

Oregon State’s Ahmad Starks hit four 3-pointers in the first seven minutes to give the Beavers an early 16-point lead, but Washington State rallied to lead 39-38 at halftime.

The second half was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than eight points. Oregon State outscored the Cougars 11-4 and held Washington State without a field goal in the final 4:06.

Brock Motum scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Washington State, which missed seven of its 17 free-throw attempts. Marcus Capers added 14 points and Reggie Moore had 10 points and 10 assists.

Cunningham entered the game averaging 18.2 points to lead the league, but the Cougars held him to four points on 1 of 8 shooting. Cunningham, who averaged 27 points in two games against Washington State this season, saw his streak of scoring in double figures end at 22 games.

Oregon State's Eric Moreland tied a career-high with 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Starks finished with 13 points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Former Oregon State stars A.C. Green and Gary Payton sat together at courtside …Oregon State, which needs to win four straight games to win the Pac-12 tournament, hasn’t won four straight against Pac-12 opponents since 2002-03… Starks is 14 of 25 from 3-point range over his last four games…There were fewer than 2,000 fans in attendance for the start of the midday game at the Staples Center…Cunningham ranks fifth in the country in free throw attempts, but he was just 2 of 4 against the Cougars.
