UCLA 72, STANFORD 61: Lazeric Jones scored a game-high 21 points and his highlight reel behind-the-back pass to Jerime Anderson capped a key spurt in the second half to lift the Bruins over the Cardinals.

Jones made three 3-pointers including a crucial one with three minutes left to extend UCLA’s lead to six points. The Cardinal never got any closer the rest of the way as the Bruins earned a split of the season series.

Travis Wear returned to the lineup after missing a game with a sprained ankle and scored 13 points. Anderson finished with 12.

Stanford, which has lost five of its last six games, was led by Chasson Randall with 16 points. No other Cardinal reached double figures.

The Bruins (14-10, 7-5 Pac-12) made virtually every shot it took early in the first half and raced out to a 25-9 lead. But Stanford (16-8, 6-6 Pac-12) chipped away and closed the gap to 35-27 at the half. They got to within three points several times in the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The two teams combined for 41 turnovers in the contest. … Jones had six of the Bruins’ 15 steals.
