San Diego State rallied in the second half to beat visiting Boise State 58-56 on Wednesday after the Broncos’ Thomas Bropleh missed a wide-open 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Trailing by eight at halftime, No. 17 San Diego State (19-3, 5-1 Mountain West) held Boise State (10-11, 0-6) to one field goal over 13 minutes in the second half.

Jamaal Franklin had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Aztecs, who made 16 of their final 17 free throws. Chase Tapley added 14 points.

San Diego State shot 25 for 29 (86.2 percent) from the free throw line, while Boise State was 7 for 16.

Boise State lost its seventh straight game despite Anthony Drmic’s 17 points and seven rebounds. Tre Nichols added 17 points, including four 3-pointers.

Boise State fell to 5-30 all-time against ranked opponents and remained winless on the road this season.

The Broncos committed 18 turnovers, but held San Diego State to only 15 of 48 (31.3 percent) from the floor, including 3 for 19 (15.8 percent) from 3-point range.
