Trae Golden matched a career-high with 29 points and host Tennessee withstood a balanced Chattanooga scoring attack en route to a 76-63 victory on Monday.

The Volunteers (7-6) extended their winning streak to four games and beat the Mocs (6-9) for the 27th time in the past 28 meetings.

The Volunteers scored the first seven points. Tennessee weathered a Chattanooga surge that pushed the Mocs ahead 26-22 and closed the final 5:22 of the first half with a 22-6 run to take a 44-32 halftime lead.

Three consecutive 3-pointers by Chattanooga brought the Mocs within 46-41 two minutes into the second half, but the Volunteers pulled away again and never were seriously challenged.

Skylar McBee scored a career-high 16 points, matching a career-best with five 3-pointers. Golden finished with four 3-pointers.

Ricky Taylor led four Chattanooga players in double figures with 17 points.
