Rodney McGruder had a team-high 14 points and four teammates finished in double figures as Kansas State throttled Howard 82-46 Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum.

Will Spradling finished with 13 points, Jamar Samuels had 12 and Angel Rodriguez added 11 for the Wildcats (11-1), who led 50-18 at halftime.

Howard (4-11, 1-1 MEAC), which got blown out in an 89-34 loss at 18th-ranked Kansas on Thursday, trailed by as many as 47 points in the second half against Kansas State, which won its sixth straight game and improved to 6-0 at home.

The Bison shot just 20.7 percent in the first half on 6-of-29 shooting. Kansas State, meanwhile, shot 51.8 percent and finished with a 40-30 edge in rebounds. The Wildcats finally eased up about midway through the second half, leading 68-22.

Glenn Andrews had a game-high 25 points for Howard, which has lost six of its last seven. Andrews was the lone Bison who had more than two first-half points.

McGruder and four 3-pointers, and Spradling and Rodriguez each had three for the Wildcats, who will open their Big 12 Conference season on Jan. 4 at Kansas. Samuels had a game-high nine rebounds, and Jeremy Jones came off the bench to score 10.
