No. 21 Georgetown nearly lost a 17-point lead, weathering Howard’s second-half comeback before pulling away in the final minutes for a 62-48 home victory.

Otto Porter scored 13 points for the Hoyas (8-1), who led 17-0 with 12:50 left in the first half. The Bison (3-6), who trailed 30-17 at halftime, used a 21-12 run to pull within 42-38 with 7:52 to play.

Georgetown finally put the game away, outscoring the Bison 20-10 the rest of the way.

The Hoyas came in 12th in the nation in field-goal percentage, but shot just 34 percent from the field and 1-for-13 from 3-ponit range. Hollis Thompson scored 12 points, Jason Clark scored 12 points with four steals, and Nate Lubick pulled down 10 rebounds for Georgetown.

Howard missed its first 11 shots and did not score until Dadrian Collins’ 3-pointer with 10:40 left in the first half.

Mike Phillips led the Bison with 14 points. Collins added 11 points for Howard, which has lost three of its past four.

Georgetown hosts American University next Saturday. Howard hosts St. Francis on Monday.
