Herb Pope collected 25 points, six rebounds and four assists as Seton Hall used a big second half to coast past the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 78-48, on Tuesday.

Jordan Theodore added 11 points and 11 assists and Aaron Cosby scored 12 points for the Pirates (7-1), who shot 53 percent from the floor.

The Highlanders made a game of it in the first half, using an advantage at the free throw line to hang within 34-32 at the break.

But Seton Hall locked down on defense after the half, holding NJIT without a field goal from the 19:16 mark until 7:01 as it ripped off a 29-2 burst. The Pirates had eight layups or dunks and hit a pair of 3-pointers during the run as they had no trouble getting into the lane.

Fuquan Edwin’s 3-pointer with 2:51 left made it 73-44 before Seton Hall emptied the bench.

The Highlanders ended up shooting 16 percent (4 of 25) in the second half.

Isaiah Wilkerson scored 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting for NJIT (3-5).

The Pirates host Wake Forest on Saturday looking to improve to 8-1 before the finals break.
