Joe Ragland nailed 8 of 9 from 3-point range en route to 31 points to lead host Wichita State to an 89-70 upset of No. 20 UNLV.

Carl Hall added 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Garrett Stutz scored 13 points for the Shockers (5-2), who torched the Rebels by shooting 59 percent from the floor, including 12 of 23 from beyond the arc.

UNLV star Mike Moser, who came in leading the nation in rebounding at 13.3 and averaging 17.5 points, was held to 12 points and seven boards in the setback.

Wichita State made its move early, turning an 18-18 deadlock into a 47-32 lead at the half. Ragland sank four 3-pointers and totaled 14 points during the burst. The Rebels (8-1) had no chance to get back into the game after the break, as the Shockers buried six of their first seven shots.

One of the leading rebounding teams in the nation, UNLV was edged on the boards, 27-24, and shot just 5 of 20 from 3-point range.

The Shockers are a strong candidate to challenge Creighton in the Missouri Valley Conference this season and will get another test when they hit the road to play Tulsa on Wednesday.
