Richmond continued its road success with a 70-62 win at Wake Forest on Saturday.

Richmond (6-2) improved to 3-1 on its current five-game road trip that has spanned more than three weeks. The Spiders, who lost four starters from last year’s Sweet 16 team, have relied on the speed of its backcourt on both ends of the floor and it proved to be the difference in its first victory in 11 tries in Winston-Salem.

Wake Forest (5-3) had no answer for freshman guard Kendall Anthony, who scored a career-high 21 points and has shot better than 50 percent in his first three road games. Cedrick Lindsey chipped in with 15 points and seven assists to help Richmond build a 23-point lead midway through the second half.

Richmond’s defense wasn’t as stingy as normal, but it dared role players to make buckets. It never happened.

The Demon Deacons, who are trying to wash away the pain of an eight-win campaign last season, didn’t have enough support around leading scorers Travis McKie and C.J. Harris. The duo combined for 43 points, but just like in a loss at Arizona State, no one else flirted with double figures.
