Verdell Jones III led a balanced attack with 17 points as hot-shooting Indiana coasted to a 94-73 victory over Evansville on Wednesday for its first road win in more than a year.

The Hoosiers (3-0), who were 0-14 away from home last season, hit 11-of-12 shots while stretching an early 7-3 edge to 29-16 at the midway point of the first half and the Purple Aces (1-1) never got back within single digits. Indiana shot 59.4 percent (19-for-32) in the first 20 minutes and took a 51-27 cushion into halftime.

Christian Watford had season highs of 15 points and eight rebounds for the Hoosiers, while Cody Zeller and Jordan Hulls finished with 14 points apiece. The trio was a combined 16-for-21 shooting. Jones also had seven assists and five rebounds.

Perhaps suffering a bit of a hangover after opening its new arena with an overtime victory over Butler, Evansville allowed Indiana to shoot 11-for-21 from 3-point range and 56 percent overall. The Hoosiers moved the ball well, collecting 24 assists on 33 field goals.

Colt Ryan and Kenny Harris scored 17 points apiece for the Purple Aces.
