ANAHEIM – Pac-10 Player of the Year Derrick Williams scored a career-high 32 points and Arizona went on a 19-2 second-half run to stun top-seeded Duke 93-77 in a West Region semifinal on Thursday.

Trailing 53-47, fifth-seeded Arizona surged behind Lamont “MoMo” Jones’ penetration, and soon all the Wildcats were attacking Duke’s helpless defenders.

Williams, who also knocked down 5-of-6 3-pointers and grabbed 13 rebounds, kept Arizona (30-7) within striking distance until the turnaround. Williams scored 25 first-half points, including a contested 24-footer at the buzzer to make it 44-38 Duke.

The Blue Devils (32-5) appeared in control until Arizona’s rally. Then Duke fell apart, committing uncharacteristic turnovers and silly fouls and shooting air balls.

Williams’ one-handed monster jam with 8:07 left made it 73-61 Wildcats and sent the pro-Arizona crowd into a frenzy.

Arizona will play No. 3 seed Connecticut on Saturday for a berth in the Final Four.

Jones finished with 16 points and six assists and Solomon Hill scored 13.

Kyrie Irving led Duke with 28 points off the bench, and Kyle Singler had 18 and eight rebounds. ACC Player of the Year Nolan Smith shot 3 of 14 for eight points.

Arizona shot 54 percent (34 of 63) and outrebounded Duke 35-26.
