Scotty Hopson scored a game-high 23 points as Tennessee ended a three-game losing streak with a 73-67 victory over visiting South Carolina on Wednesday.

Cameron Tatum scored 13 points and Tobias Harris had 10 points and eight rebounds for Tennessee (16-10, 6-5 SEC), and Melvin Goins (six rebounds, six assists) made 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute as the Volunteers defeated the Gamecocks for the eighth straight time.

Malik Cooke had 22 points and eight rebounds for South Carolina (13-11, 4-7), which has lost four straight and six of seven, and Bruce Ellington added 15.

The Gamecocks were within 46-44 with 12:18 left, but the Volunteers scored 10 of the next 12 points.

South Carolina led 15-14 with 8:05 left in the first half before the Volunteers slowly pulled away for a 33-25 halftime lead.

Hopson had 12 points, nine in the final eight minutes of the half, and Harris contributed eight points and seven rebounds. Tennessee held South Carolina to 24.3 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes.
