Jason Clark had a game-high 16 points and Hollis Thompson added 15 in a reserve role as No. 20 Georgetown won its third straight game Wednesday night, breezing past visiting St. John's 77-52.

Austin Freeman added 14 points to help the Hoyas (15-5, 4-4 Big East) gain a measure of revenge following a crushing 61-58 loss to the Red Storm (11-8, 4-5 Big East) on Jan. 3. The victory came at a critical time for Georgetown, which faces No. 7 Villanova in Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.

After Georgetown opened sluggishly in front of a boisterous crowd at the Verizon Center, Thompson hit a 3-pointer and Freeman converted a four-point play to bookend an 11-2 run that turned a two-point Hoya deficit into a seven-point advantage. After Dwight Hardy's 3-pointer cut Georgetown's lead to three, the Hoyas closed the half with a 10-0 run – highlighted by an emphatic Thompson dunk – to lead by 13 at the break.

Justin Burrell's three-point play trimmed the Georgetown lead to 45-39 with 14 minutes remaining in the game, but Thompson answered with five points during a pivotal 8-0 run that put the game away.

The Hoyas, who entered Wednesday ranked second in the nation in field-goal percentage, shot 52 percent for the night and dished out 21 assists. They also outrebounded St. John's 39-28 while limiting it to 33.9 percent from the field.

Burrell had 12 points to pace the Red Storm, who have lost five of six. Hardy, who managed 20 points in the win over Georgetown earlier in the month, had 10 points on 4-of-16 shooting and has hit just 10 of 35 shots over his last two games.
