Vanderbilt used a balanced attack and hot shooting to defeat No. 21 Saint Mary's 89-70 on Saturday.

The win is the Commodores' 61st straight at home over a non-conference foe and snaps the Gaels’ 11-game winning streak.

After missing five of its first six shots, Vandy (13-4, 2-2 SEC) got hot and scored 80-plus points for the 10th time this season. The Commodores shot 52 percent from the field, went 11 of 22 from 3-point range and 26 of 32 at the line.

After getting outscored 23-7 to end the first half and trailing 43-28 at the break, Saint Mary’s (17-2, 5-0 WCC) got as close as five points twice. Each time, Vandy answered with an 11-2 run. Back to-back 3-pointers by Rod Odom and Brad Tinsley capped the second run and staked the Commodores to a 75-60 lead with six minutes left.

Vanderbilt's Jeffery Taylor tallied 10 of his 19 points in the first half. John Jenkins, the SEC’s leading scorer, also had 19 and Tinsley a season-high 18. Lance Goulbourne totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double.

Matthew Dellavedova led St. Mary’s with 19 points, seven of which came during the Gaels’ flurry to open the second half. Rob Jones had 15, but Matthew McConnell was held to six points—well below his team-leading 15-point average—and fouled out.
