All-American candidate Derrick Williams needed just 25 minutes to record a double-double as Arizona posted an easy 84-57 victory over Rice on Wednesday night.

Williams, a sophomore forward, led four Wildcats scorers in double figures with 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, and he grabbed 10 rebounds as the Wildcats (6-1) pulled away early. Rice (3-4) trailed 10-8, but Arizona pulled out to a double-digit lead eight minutes into the game and the Owls could not cut the gap.

Point guards Lamont Jones and Jordin Mayes scored 11 points each for Arizona. Jamelle Horne scored 12 of his 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc as the Wildcats bounced back from an 87-79 loss to No. 6 Kansas on Saturday to post their best start since the 2002-03 campaign. Arizona's six wins have been by an average 30 points.

Arsalan Kazemi led the way for Rice with 17 points.

Arizona hosts Oklahoma on Sunday at McKale Center Arena in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Challenge.
