South Florida jumped out to a 15-point halftime lead and went on to a 60-43 victory over Liberty in South Padre Invitational action Tuesday at Tampa, Fla.

The Bulls (3-2) scored 15 of the game’s first 20 points in a speedy start to the contest, paced by the offensive play of Ron Anderson and Hugh Robertson. Liberty’s deficit grew to 19 points, 39-20, early in the second half before South Florida put its game on cruise control.

Mike Burwell led South Florida with 15 points. He was the only Bulls scorer to finish in double figures. Anderson ended up with six points and 17 rebounds.

Evan Gordon led Liberty with 15 points, but he also committed six turnovers.

South Florida travels Friday to South Padre Island in Texas to continue the tournament; the Bulls will face Brigham Young. Liberty (2-4) will face Mississippi Valley State on Friday in the same tournament.
