Terrence Jennings led the way with 12 points and six rebounds and Preston Knowles added 12 points and five assists as Louisville jumped out to a big lead and held on for a 62-45 win over Jackson State on Saturday.

Peyton Siva chipped in 11 points and Mike Marra finished with nine for the Cardinals (2-0), who overcame 19 turnovers by winning the battle of the boards, 36-25.

Louisville made its move in the first half, ending the period on a 19-4 run to take a 30-16 lead into the break. Siva scored seven points during the spurt and Marra nailed a pair of 3-pointers. Jackson State missed its last five shots of the first half.

Jennings scored seven points in the first four minutes of the second half to stretch it to 39-21 before the Tigers (0-4) began to fight back, using a 15-0 burst to cut it to 39-35 with just under 12 minutes to play.

The Cardinals woke up after that, responding with a 19-6 run to put it away.

Jenirro Bush scored 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting to lead Jackson State.
