Rico Gathers scored a season-high 22 points and the reserve freshman forward grabbed a team-high nine rebounds as the host Bears led from start to finish.

Brady Heslip contributed 20 points and Pierre Jackson finished with 15 points and nine assists for Baylor (16-8, 7-4 Big 12), which remained a game behind first-place Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

Eron Harris scored 19 points and Deniz Kilicli had 13 for West Virginia (12-12, 5-6), which had its three-game winning streak halted.

Baylor scored the first seven points and never trailed during the first half, which ended with the Bears leading 31-27.

An 8-0 run gave Baylor its first double-digit lead, 46-34, with 14:02 remaining and the Mountaineers never got closer than eight the rest of the way. The Bears finished with 23 assists on 27 field goals and committed nine turnovers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bears are 141-2 when leading or tied at halftime since Scott Drew took over as coach for the 2003-04 season. … Jackson has reached double figures in 31 straight games, the longest active streak in the Big 12. He also sank a 3-pointer for the 35th consecutive game, the second-longest streak in school history behind LaceDarius Dunn (45), who played for the Bears from 2007-11. … Harris started his ninth consecutive game for the Mountaineers; the freshman guard has led the team in scoring in five of those games.
