PORTLAND, Ore. -- Reggie Jackson was in a zone, for sure. Had he ever been in one like that before?

"Probably a few times before," the Detroit guard said after scoring 26 fourth-quarter points to lead a furious rally as the Pistons stormed past the Portland Trail Blazers 120-103 Sunday night at the Moda Center. "But never on this level."

Jackson made 10 of 11 shots from the field in the final period as Detroit outscored Portland 41-11 to overcome an 18-point, third-quarter deficit and start 2-0 on its six-game road trip.

"I've seen Kobe (Bryant) and Melo (Carmelo Anthony) take over a game before," said Detroit guard Steve Blake, a 13-year veteran. "But that was up there with one of the best ones I've seen."

Jackson finished with a career-high 40 points. Center Andre Drummond added a season-high 29 points and grabbed 27 rebounds for the Pistons (5-1).

Guard Damian Lillard collected 26 points and 11 assists for the Trail Blazers (4-3). Guard CJ McCollum scored 18 points, and forward Meyers Leonard finished with 17.

Through three quarters, Jackson was 5-for-15 from the field, and the Pistons went into the final period trailing 92-79.

"I was frustrated," said Jackson, who came to Detroit last year via a midseason trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. "My teammates kept saying 'attack' to me and Andre. I felt like I was missing shots. (Assistant coach) Tim Hardaway could see it was annoying, but he said, 'Trust the shots will go down. It will work.'

"I wanted to be aggressive in the fourth. I got in a real good groove. I was making shots. Funny thing is, when I was scoring, I felt like we were scoring. I seen the ball going into the basket, but I didn't necessarily know it was myself putting the ball in there. My teammates were moving the ball and making good screens to allow myself to get open."

The Blazers shot 64.9 percent from the field through three quarters but made only four of 19 shots while committing 10 of their 23 turnovers in the final period.

"It was a shame we threw away three good quarters of basketball," Portland coach Terry Stotts said. "Detroit outplayed us in the fourth quarter. (The Pistons') defense picked up, and we had a lot of turnovers either they caused or were self-inflicted.

"You have to hand it to them. They kept playing, and we didn't handle it very well."

Portland scored the final eight points of the first quarter to take a 32-23 lead into the second period. Lillard had 11 points and four assists over the first 12 minutes.

The Blazers stoked their advantage to 50-36 with 4:30 left in the second quarter, but Detroit responded with a 7-0 run to close with 50-43. Portland carried a 57-47 edge into the half, shooting 60.5 percent from the field through the first two quarters.

Guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope kept Detroit within range, scoring 11 of his 16 points in the second quarter. Drummond had collected 10 points and 12 boards by the break.

The Blazers took up where they left off after intermission, extending their lead to 75-57 midway through the third quarter. The difference was 13 points heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter, though, was all Detroit. And in particular, an awful lot of Reggie Jackson.

"He took over the game," Lillard said. "He made jumpers in the pick-and-roll. We stayed in our coverages pretty well, but he just got it going.

"That's one thing that will happen in this league. Anybody on a given night can get it going. We let him do it tonight, and he had a great fourth quarter and basically won them the game."

NOTES: G Reggie Jackson's 26 fourth-quarter points tied Detroit's franchise single-quarter scoring record set by Will Bynum in 2009. ... Detroit C Andre Drummond's 27 rebounds were tied for fourth most ever in Portland by visiting player. Wilt Chamberlain (Los Angeles Lakers, 1973) holds the record with 31. ... Portland F Ed Davis was ejected after receiving back-to-back technical fouls by referee John Goble in the fourth quarter. ... Detroit G Brandon Jennings, who underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon in January, is on the trip with the Pistons. "He'll get into some drills, maybe some half-court stuff, but we're still a ways off," coach Stan Van Gundy said. "We're not going to see him (in action) this month."
