Warriors 98, Suns 80: Stephen Curry scored 25 of his 36 points in the second half and buried seven 3-pointers as visiting Golden State dominated Phoenix.
Klay Thompson added four 3-pointers en route to 25 points as the Warriors (50-12) joined the Atlanta Hawks as the only teams at 50 wins. Draymond Green contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for Golden State, which picked up its fourth straight win and moved 5 1/2 games clear of Memphis for the top spot in the Western Conference.
Eric Bledsoe had 19 points and Alex Len recorded 10 points and 11 boards for the Suns, who dropped three games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the No. 8 spot in the West. Brandon Knight added 13 points before leaving with a sprained ankle for Phoenix.
The Warriors held an 11-point lead early in the second quarter and were up 46-37 with 1:54 left before Bledsoe scored five points in a 9-0 run to knot it at 46 at the half. It stayed tight early in the third before Curry scored 10 points and Green and Thompson each added a 3-pointer during a 23-5 surge that left Golden State on top 76-57.
The Suns bridged the third and fourth with a 10-0 burst to close within nine points but Harrison Barnes stopped the bleeding with a 3-point play and Curry’s 3-pointer with 8:15 to play extended the advantage to 84-67. Curry buried back-to-back 3-pointers off turnovers to push it to 96-73 before the Warriors emptied the bench.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Curry recorded at least five 3-pointers and at least five assists in a game for an NBA-record 62nd time and has hit multiple 3-pointers in a career-high tying 19 straight contests. … The Warriors improved to 32-0 when holding their opponent under 100 points. … Suns Fs Markieff Morris and Marcus Morris combined to go 2-of-15 from the field.
