Nuggets 106, Bucks 95: Danilo Gallinari scored a season-high 26 points as host Denver began the post-Brian Shaw era by knocking off Milwaukee.

Ty Lawson collected 16 points and 10 assists for the Nuggets, who fired Shaw as head coach earlier in the day and promoted assistant Melvin Hunt to serve as interim coach. Kenneth Faried contributed 14 points and 14 rebounds while Wilson Chandler scored 12 points for Denver.

Ersan Ilyasova scored 21 points and Khris Middleton had 20 for the Bucks, who fell to 0-3 on their four-game road trip. Giannis Antetokounmpo added 19 points and 11 rebounds as Milwaukee failed to reach 100 points for the sixth time in the last seven contests.

The Nuggets bridged the third and fourth quarters with a 20-4 run to grab an 87-72 lead with 9:14 left. The Bucks scored the next six points to cut it to single digits and were within 100-93 with 2:21 to play before Randy Foye and Lawson each knocked down a 3-pointer to put it away.

Gallinari scored the first eight points of the game and the Nuggets held an 11-point lead midway through the first quarter before the Bucks battled back and grabbed a seven-point edge midway through the second. Lawson led an 11-1 burst closing the second to send Denver into the break up 55-51.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gallinari has scored 20 or more points in four of the last five games. … Two assistant coaches also departed Denver, which will hold a search for a permanent replacement after the season. … The Bucks finish off their road trip at NBA-best Golden State on Wednesday.
