Knicks 121, Pistons 115 (2 OT): Andre Bargnani posted season highs of 25 points and 12 rebounds and Shane Larkin came up big in the second overtime as visiting New York shocked Detroit.
Lou Amundson tied a season high with 17 points and added a season-best 14 rebounds - nine offensive - for the Knicks, who came back from an 18-point deficit to snap an embarrassing eight-game losing streak. Larkin finished with a season-best 16 points and Langston Galloway scored 12, including a late 3-pointer that forced overtime.
Greg Monroe had 28 points and 13 rebounds but missed three free throws in the second OT for the Pistons, whose playoff hopes couldn't afford a letdown to the lowly Knicks. Andre Drummond added 21 points and 15 rebounds and Reggie Jackson scored 16 but shot just 5-of-24 as Detroit now must play seven of its next eight games on the road.
Tim Hardaway and Larkin hit consecutive jumpers for a 112-108 lead with 1:51 left, but Anthony Tolliver answered with a 3-pointer before Larkin converted a three-point play and two free throws as New York closed out its first win in three tries against Detroit this season. Neither team could muster more than a two-point lead in the first overtime, Monroe had a chance to give Detroit a one-point lead but failed to convert a free throw with 12 seconds left and Hardaway Jr. missed a jumper with under a second to play.
Jackson converted a three-point play, a floater and two free throws that turned a three-point deficit into an 88-84 lead with 4:52 left, but New York got a putback by Amundson with 31.4 seconds left in regulation and a 3-pointer by Galloway with 6.3 ticks remaining to tie it 95-95 and survived a last second 3-point attempt by Tolliver. The Pistons led 51-33 on a tip by Drummond with 3:33 left in the first half before the Knicks closed on an 8-2 run, and New York held Detroit without a field goal for the first six minutes of the third quarter while Bargnani scored nine points to give the Knicks a 63-62 lead with 3:14 left in the third.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hardaway left in the third quarter with an injury to his left eye that required stitches but returned midway through the fourth. … With 25 games remaining, New York needs to win 10 to avoid setting a club record for fewest wins (21 in 1962-63 and 1960-61) in a season. … Monroe shot 9-of-13 and added four offensive rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
