Nets 103, Kings 100: Brook Lopez had 22 points and a season-high six blocks off the bench as visiting Brooklyn held off Sacramento.

Jarrett Jack added 16 points and eight assists and Joe Johnson finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for the Nets, who shot 55.3 percent from the floor in the first half before finishing at 46.8. Alan Anderson contributed another 14 points off the bench for Brooklyn.

DeMarcus Cousins finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds and Rudy Gay scored 14 of his 25 points in the final 7:35 and distributed a team-high six assists for the Kings, who matched their longest losing streak of the season at five games. Darren Collison added 16 points for Sacramento and Omri Casspi led the reserves with 10.

Sacramento trailed by as much as 23 with just under four minutes left in the first half but continued chipping away until Cousins cut the deficit to two on two free throws with 1:31 left. Johnson buried a 3-pointer on the other end and then grabbed an offensive rebound on the next trip down the floor after Cousins had made two more free throws, was fouled and made both to extend the lead back to five with 24 seconds left and that was enough to hold off the Kings.

Brooklyn led 62-46 at the break but Sacramento got within 10 just past the midway point of the third quarter. The Nets stopped them there until Gay scored all his team’s points in a 12-3 run that pulled the Kings within six with 4:39 left in the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Nets scored 36 points in the opening quarter, which matched their season-high point total for any quarter this season. … Cousins and Gay, who combine to average 44.6 points, were a combined 4-for-20 from the floor in the first half with seven points apiece. … The Nets improved to 10-10 on the road this season, making them one of two NBA teams at .500 or better on the road and below .500 at home.
