Suns 107, Cavaliers 100: Markieff Morris scored a season-high 35 points on 15-of-21 shooting as host Phoenix handed Cleveland its sixth straight defeat.

Goran Dragic scored 18 points and Alex Len added 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Suns won for the 11th time in 15 games. Eric Bledsoe contributed 12 points and six assists and P.J. Tucker scored 10 points.

LeBron James had 33 points, seven rebounds and five assists in his return after missing the previous eight games with back and knee injuries. J.R. Smith set season bests with 29 points and eight 3-pointers and Shawn Marion grabbed 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers.

Cleveland attempted to avoid its ninth loss in 10 games by recovering from a 16-point deficit to take a 90-88 lead on Tristan Thompson’s dunk with 7:33 left. Two free throws by Morris gave the Suns a 103-97 lead with 1:08 to play and James’ three-point play marked the only Cavaliers’ points the rest of the way before Tucker hit four free throws to seal it.

Phoenix led by 59-51 at halftime and held a 16-point third-quarter lead with just over a minute left in the period before things unraveled. Smith, who made five 3-pointers in the quarter, drained one with 56.8 seconds left to start a 10-0 burst, which including a dunk by James with 5.9 seconds left and another 3-pointer by Smith with two seconds left as Cleveland pulled within 85-79.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleveland PF Kevin Love had just nine points and nine rebounds and PG Kyrie Irving also was held to nine points. … Slumping Phoenix SG Gerald Green played just eight minutes and didn’t score. … Smith was 3-of-16 from 3-point range in his first three games with the Cavaliers.
