76ers 90, Nets 88: Robert Covington recorded 20 points, seven rebounds and a career-high six steals while Nerlens Noel slammed home the winning basket with 3.2 seconds left to lift visiting Philadelphia past Brooklyn.
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 16 points after missing the previous two games with turf toe for the 76ers, who snapped a five-game losing skid on the road. Noel and Tony Wroten tallied 12 points apiece while Michael Carter-Williams dished out eight assists, including the game-winner on a pick and roll with Noel.
Brook Lopez scored 18 points but missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, while Mason Plumlee collected 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for the Nets, who were missing Deron Williams (fractured rib) and Kevin Garnett (rest). Jarrett Jack chipped in 14 points and 10 assists for Brooklyn, which blew a 13-point lead to drop its fourth straight game.
Covington connected from beyond the arc and Wroten converted a three-point play to give the 76ers their first lead of the second half at 88-86 with 2:41 remaining. Lopez knocked down a clutch floater in the lane to even the score with 25.3 seconds left and set the stage for Noel's late heroics.
Mirza Teletovic drilled a 3-pointer during a 7-0 run to end the first quarter to put the Nets in front 32-23 before the 76ers chipped away at the lead and trailed 46-45 at intermission. Lopez sparked a 12-2 surge to begin the third quarter as Brooklyn pulled ahead by 11 and Bojan Bogdanovic nailed a jumper to give the Nets their biggest advantage of the game at 68-55.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The 76ers beat the Nets for the first time since Dec. 20, 2013, snapping a four-game losing streak in the series. … Carter-Williams went 2-of-9 from the floor and is 3-of-22 in his last two games. … Plumlee has recorded four straight double-doubles, which marks the longest streak of his career.
