Kings 108, Lakers 101: DeMarcus Cousins led the way with 29 points and 14 rebounds in his second game back from viral meningitis as Sacramento turned away visiting Los Angeles.

Rudy Gay collected 24 points and six assists and Ben McLemore added a season-high 23 points for the Kings, who snapped a five-game slide. Darren Collison contributed 19 points as Sacramento won its first game under interim coach Tyrone Corbin.

Kobe Bryant scored 25 points on 8-of-30 shooting and turned the ball over nine times for the Lakers. Nick Young scored 26 points off the bench and Ed Davis added 10 as Los Angeles dropped its third straight.

Young scored six straight points to put the Lakers in front 89-83 with 8:03 to play before Gay’s 3-pointer sparked a 16-2 run over the next four minutes and left the Kings on top. Bryant ended the run with a jumper and Young’s free throws brought Los Angeles within 101-95 with 2:54 left before Bryant turned the ball over and Gay made him pay with a 3-pointer as Sacramento put it away.

The Lakers closed the second quarter with a 17-4 run to take a 60-52 lead into the break. Bryant’s layup stretched the lead to 79-66 midway through the third quarter before Collison scored the first five points of a 15-0 run to put the Kings in front, and they took an 81-80 lead into the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bryant is 11-of-45 from the field in the last two games and is shooting 29.2 percent over the last five. … Lakers F Carlos Boozer recorded six points and seven rebounds to snap a string of six straight double-digit scoring efforts. … Kings G Ramon Sessions (back) sat out the game and is day-to-day.
