Trail Blazers 110, Clippers 104: Will Barton had a career-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Robin Lopez added 15 points and nine rebounds as host Portland outlasted Los Angeles.

Victor Claver and C.J. McCollum added 12 points apiece for the Trail Blazers, who played without All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge (rest) and didn’t play any of the other starters more than 14 minutes. Portland, which had an astounding 65-42 rebounding edge, is the fifth-seeded team in the Western Conference and will play No. 4 Houston in the first round of the playoffs, beginning on Sunday.

Jamal Crawford had 34 points and eight assists for the Clippers, who were without Blake Griffin (suspension), Chris Paul (rest) and J.J. Redick (back). Matt Barnes and Darren Collision added 19 points apiece for Los Angeles, which is the No. 3 seed in the West and opens up against sixth-seeded Golden State on Saturday.

The Clippers led 98-97 after Willie Green’s basket with 4:20 remaining before Claver scored eight points during an 11-2 burst as Portland took an eight-point lead with 1:15 to play. Crawford hit two free throws with one minute left but a basket by McCollum sealed it for the Trail Blazers.

Portland led by 22 in the first half and took a 68-52 lead into the break. Crawford took over in the third quarter and scored 15 consecutive points during a 17-0 surge – including the 41st four-point play of his career – as Los Angeles pulled within one and eventually went ahead by six before the Clippers took an 85-82 lead into the fourth quarter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Trail Blazers won 54 games, a 21-victory improvement over last season, while the Clippers won a franchise-record 57 games. … Griffin received his 16th technical foul in Tuesday’s game against Denver, which earned him an automatic one-game suspension. … Portland had four players start all 82 games – F Nicolas Batum, PG Damian Lillard, G Wesley Matthews and Lopez – while Clippers C DeAndre Jordan also started all 82 contests and was removed after the opening minute.
