Trail Blazers 111, Jazz 99: Wesley Matthews scored 21 points and LaMarcus Aldridge had 18 points and 14 rebounds as visiting Portland upended Utah.

Damian Lillard scored 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter for the Trail Blazers, who moved within a half-game of the fourth-place Houston Rockets in the Western Conference. Nicolas Batum added 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and Robin Lopez had 12 points and eight rebounds as Portland won for the seventh time in eight games.

Derrick Favors scored 21 points and Alec Burks added 16 for the Jazz, who have lost three straight games and 19 of their last 22. Enes Kanter had 15 points and 13 rebounds, Trey Burke contributed 14 points and 11 assists and Gordon Hayward also scored 14 points.

Lillard made his first field goals of the contest with two 3-pointers in a 37-second span of the fourth quarter to give Portland an 86-81 lead with 9:15 remaining. He drained two more 3s shortly before the midway point of the period to give the Trail Blazers an 11-point lead and Matthews made a key 3-pointer with 2:14 remaining to seal it.

Portland led 53-51 at the break and was up by five points early in the third quarter before Utah rallied to tie the score at 58 on Favors’ basket. The score was knotted at 76 entering the final stanza and Richard Jefferson’s basket gave the Jazz a 79-77 lead early in the fourth before Lillard took over.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Portland was 7-of-8 from 3-point range in the final quarter to finish at 11-of-22. … The Jazz committed 13 turnovers, leading to 18 Portland points. … The Trail Blazers won all four meetings this season to sweep Utah for the first time.
