Rockets 111, Thunder 107: James Harden led the way with 39 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as Houston ended its three-game losing streak and clinched a playoff berth by clipping Oklahoma City.

Chandler Parsons added 23 points and Terrence Jones collected 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Rockets, who pushed two games ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers for the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference. Omer Asik recorded nine points and 12 rebounds for Houston.

Kevin Durant racked up 28 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Thunder to reach 25 points for the 40th straight game - tying Michael Jordan for the longest such streak in the last 50 years. Serge Ibaka added 27 points, nine rebounds and six blocks while Reggie Jackson scored 17 for Oklahoma City, which slipped 3 1/2 games behind the San Antonio Spurs for the top spot in the West.

The Thunder took a 96-93 lead on Caron Butler’s free throws with 6:47 left but the Rockets responded with an 11-2 burst capped by Francisco Garcia’s 3-pointer to go back on top 104-98 with 2:42 to play. Durant drained a 3-pointer to reach 25 points on the night and draw Oklahoma City within one point with a minute remaining but Harden went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in the final 23 seconds to seal it.

Houston took a 50-45 lead into the break but the Thunder started with an 18-7 burst in the third to gain control. Butler’s 3-pointer made it an 84-76 gap before Harden scored four of the final six points of the period to close it within 84-82 going into the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Thunder G Russell Westbrook (knee) sat out to rest on the second night of a back-to-back. … Houston C Dwight Howard (ankle) missed his fourth straight game. … The Rockets went 32-of-37 from the free-throw line, led by Harden’s 17-of-20 effort.
