Spurs 96, Pelicans 80:
Marco Belinelli scored 18 points as host San Antonio defeated New Orleans and tied a franchise record with its 17th consecutive victory.

Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard added 15 points apiece for the Spurs, who stretched their Western Conference lead to 3 1/2 games over Oklahoma City. Patty Mills added 13 points and Tim Duncan contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots.

Brian Roberts scored 18 points and Austin Rivers added 16 for the Pelicans, who were without All-Star forward Anthony Davis (ankle). Tyreke Evans added 11 points for New Orleans, which had a five-game winning streak halted.

San Antonio spotted the Pelicans the first two points and then scored the next 11 and held a 23-6 edge less than eight minutes into the contest. New Orleans was within 10 points with less than five minutes to go in the second quarter before the Spurs scored 11 of the next 13 and ended up taking a 52-35 lead into the break.

The Pelicans cut their deficit to 70-59 entering the final stanza but Belinelli hit two 3-pointers and Mills drained one as the Spurs opened the fourth with a 14-5 burst to take a 20-point lead with 7:05 to play. San Antonio cruised to the finish to complete a four-game season sweep of New Orleans.

GAME NOTEBOOK: San Antonio also won 17 consecutive games during the 1995-96 campaign. … Davis was hurt early in Friday’s victory over Utah and the club is hopeful he will return for Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. … Pelicans G Eric Gordon (knee) missed this fifth straight game, while G Danny Green (foot) and C Tiago Splitter (rest) sat out for the Spurs.
