Bobcats 116, Nets 111 (OT): Al Jefferson led the way with 35 points and 15 rebounds as Charlotte held off visiting Brooklyn.

Kemba Walker added 20 points and 12 assists and Chris Douglas-Roberts hit a key 3-pointer in overtime and provided the dagger with a long jumper from the left side en route to 16 points as the Bobcats won for the second time in three games. Josh McRoberts scored 12 points but had a shot blocked in the final seconds of overtime that skipped out to Douglas-Roberts for the clinching shot.

Deron Williams scored 18 of his 29 points in the first quarter and Mirza Teletovic had 22 off the bench for Brooklyn. Joe Johnson added 18 points as the Nets fell 2 1/2 games behind the Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors in the race for the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Williams’ 3-pointer with 5:03 left cut the deficit to 98-96, and he got into the lane for a layup with 59 seconds to play to knot it at 103. Walker and Williams traded jumpers but Charlotte could not get off a final shot in regulation, and the Nets missed their final five shots in overtime.

The Bobcats led by as many as nine points in the third quarter before settling for an 83-78 cushion heading into the fourth. The advantage was seven points after Douglas-Roberts knocked down a 3-pointer with 9:56 left but the Nets kept it close.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nets G Jorge Gutierrez was ejected in the fourth quarter after being called for a flagrant 2 foul for pulling Bobcats C Cody Zeller to the ground. … Brooklyn F Andrei Kirilenko (ankle) missed his third straight game while G Marcus Thornton (back) missed his first. … The Nets have played three straight overtime games for the first time in franchise history.
