Trail Blazers 94, Knicks 90: Nicolas Batum had 20 points and 10 rebounds as visiting Portland overcame yet another sluggish offensive effort to beat New York.

Wesley Matthews added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Trail Blazers, who won despite shooting 38 percent from the field. Portland came into the night leading the NBA in scoring at 108 points per game but has failed to break 95 in four of its last five games.

Carmelo Anthony's 26-point, eight-rebound performance paced New York, which dropped its third straight. J.R. Smith added 18 points and Amar'e Stoudrmire had 15 in defeat.

Portland's six-point lead early in the second quarter was the largest for either team the rest of the half. Jeremy Tyler's short jumper gave the Knicks a one-point edge with 8:18 remaining, but Portland surged back in front on Batum's layup and Damian Lillard countered a late New York run with a 22-footer with six seconds left as the Trail Blazers led 47-46 at the break.

Batum carried Portland in the third quarter, knocking down a 3-pointer with 7:35 remaining and adding a pair of layups to help stretch the advantage to 77-68 entering the fourth. The Trail Blazers went cold to start the final period - turning the ball over four times and missing their first eight shots - but a 3-pointer from Mo Williams ended the drought, LaMarcus Aldridge added a mid-range jumper to stretch the lead to seven and Portland overcame late 3-pointers from Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. to prevail.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The four New York starters other than Anthony combined for just 14 points on 5-of-20 from the field. ... Aldridge had 15 points and 12 rebounds but shot a dismal 5-for-17 from the floor. ... Batum's double-double was his first since Jan. 8 against Orlando.
