Mirza Teletovic scored 24 of his career-high 34 points in the second quarter as host Brooklyn defeated Dallas.

Deron Williams added 18 points and 11 assists off the bench as the Nets won their fourth straight game and ninth in the last 10. Paul Pierce scored 12 points and Kevin Garnett contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Vince Carter scored 19 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 18 for the Mavericks, who lost for the fourth time in six games. Monta Ellis scored 16 points, Jose Calderon added 15 and Devin Harris had 14.

Dallas was within two early in the fourth quarter before Brooklyn separated itself, and Teletovic’s seventh 3-pointer of the game gave the Nets a 100-89 lead with 4:35 to play. The Mavericks responded with nine of the next 11 points and eventually pulled within 105-103 on Nowitzki’s free throw with 7.1 seconds remaining before he missed the second intentionally and the Nets’ Andrei Kirilenko got the rebound and hit two free throws with 5.3 left to make it a two-possession game.

Teletovic exploded for his 24 second-quarter points on 9-of-11 shooting – including 6-of-7 from 3-point range – as the Nets took a 57-46 lead. The Mavericks were within four late in the third quarter before Brooklyn took a 78-70 lead into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Teletovic’s previous career high was 19 points. … Dallas made 17 straight free throws over the first 41-plus minutes before missing five of its final 16 attempts. … Brooklyn has won seven consecutive home games.
