Jazz 118, Nuggets 103: Alec Burks scored a career-best 34 points on 13-of-19 shooting to lead host Utah past Denver.

Derrick Favors had 19 points and 15 rebounds and Trey Burke added 18 points and eight assists for the Jazz. Richard Jefferson added 16 points for Utah, which shot 55.7 percent from the field while giving coach Tyrone Corbin his 100th career victory.

Ty Lawson had 23 points and 11 assists and J.J. Hickson contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who had a five-game winning streak snapped. Evan Fournier added 16 points off the bench for Denver.

Utah set a season high for points in a half while bolting to a 67-53 halftime advantage. Burks scored 17 points and Burke had 13 to counter a strong 14-point half from Hickson.

The Jazz boosted the lead to 89-65 on Jefferson’s 3-pointer with 5:05 left in the third quarter and settled for a 16-point lead entering the final stanza. Denver pulled within 105-93 on Randy Foye’s 3-pointer midway through the quarter and was within 11 with under three minutes left before Burks scored six straight points to seal it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jazz G Gordon Hayward (hip flexor) missed his second consecutive game. … Nuggets F Darrell Arthur sat out with a groin injury while F Wilson Chandler scored 12 points in 21 minutes after missing back-to-back games with a hip ailment. … Burks, making his fifth start of the season, had a previous career best of 31 against the Miami Heat on Dec. 16.
