The Pistons took their first lead at 70-69 after Jennings hit two 3-pointers in a span of 10 seconds early in the third quarter and carried an 84-81 advantage into the fourth. The 76ers got as close as two points on several occasions down the stretch, the last on Young's basket with 4:05 left, but Jennings fed Drummond for a layup and then made his fourth 3-pointer to ignite a decisive 9-0 run.

Young scored seven points as Philadelphia raced to a 14-2 lead that ballooned to 27-11 after a three-point play by Carter-Williams midway through the first. Detroit managed to cut its deficit to single digits at the end of the period and scored the final five points of the first half to pull within 63-55.
