Knicks 89, Pistons 85: Carmelo Anthony went 6-of-7 from 3-point range en route to 34 points as New York held off visiting Detroit.

Andrea Bargnani added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Knicks, who snapped a four-game home losing streak and won for the third time in four games overall. Raymond Felton (groin) returned from a six-game absence and contributed 12 points and six assists in 31 minutes.

Josh Smith collected 21 points and 12 rebounds while Greg Monroe scored 19 points as the Pistons dropped their fifth straight. Andre Drummond chipped in 12 points and 17 rebounds for Detroit, which went 3-of-19 from beyond the arc.

The Pistons trailed by as much as 17 points in the third quarter and were down 79-65 with 8:53 left before making things interesting with a 15-4 run to cut the deficit to 83-80 with 3:20 to play. Felton turned it over on consecutive possessions as Detroit cut the deficit to 86-85 before Anthony grabbed an offensive rebound and hit two free throws with 2.9 seconds left to seal it.

New York shot 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half but still managed to go into the break knotted at 41 behind 14 points from Anthony. The Knicks found a rhythm about four minutes into the third as Anthony highlighted a 15-0 run with 3-pointers on three straight possessions.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New York C Tyson Chandler (upper respiratory infection) missed the game and Detroit took advantage with a 54-38 rebounding edge. … Knicks F Metta World Peace underwent a platelet-rich plasma procedure on his left knee and is out another two weeks. … Pistons G Rodney Stuckey (shoulder) missed his third straight game.
