Jazz 109, Rockets 103: Gordon Hayward scored a season-best 29 points and Trey Burke added a career-high 21 as host Utah knocked off Houston for its third victory in four games.

Alec Burks also had 21 points and Derrick Favors contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Jazz. Marvin Williams added 10 points for Utah, which has 10-of-17 from 3-point range.

James Harden had a season-high 37 points and recorded eight assists for the Rockets, who were without forward Chandler Parsons (back). Dwight Howard added 15 points and nine rebounds while Aaron Brooks, Omri Casspi and Francisco Garcia scored 13 apiece.

Utah took an 82-74 lead into the fourth quarter before the Rockets used a 12-4 opening burst to tie the score at 86. The Rockets trailed by one with 2:25 to play before two free throws by Burks and a dunk by Williams ignited a 9-2 burst to put the game away.

Hayward scored 17 first-quarter points and the Jazz shot 71.4 percent from the field while taking a 36-23 lead. Houston rallied to take a 45-44 lead on Garcia’s 3-pointer with 3:49 left in the half before Utah closed strong for a three-point halftime lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hayward (12-of-18), Burks (7-of-11) and Favors (6-of-6) were a combined 71.4 percent from the field. … Harden has topped 30 points six times this season. … Utah has reached 100 in three consecutive games after doing so only once in its first 16 outings.
