Knicks 90, Bucks 83: Carmelo Anthony led a balanced attack with 19 points and 10 rebounds as New York christened the refurbished Madison Square Garden with a win over visiting Milwaukee.

Raymond Felton added 18 points, Iman Shumpert 16 and Tyson Chandler 10 for the Knicks, who shot 50.7 percent from the field. New York forced 24 turnovers, converting them into 27 points.

Gary Neal had 16 points in a reserve role to lead the Bucks, who lost starting point guard Brandon Knight to a pulled hamstring just two minutes into the game. Caron Butler added 14 points while O.J. Mayo and Zaza Pachulia had 13 apiece.

The suddenly shorthanded Bucks remained competitive for the opening 10 minutes — trailing by just two following a Neal 18-footer — but stumbled to open the second quarter. Milwaukee scored just twice in its first 11 possessions in the frame, turning the ball over four times in that span as the Knicks opened up a 13-point edge before cruising into the half up 56-31.

The Bucks fought gamely in the third quarter, hitting their last eight shots in the period — highlighted by a Mayo dunk — to make it 74-64. Milwaukee added the first seven points of the fourth to close within three and drew even on a Butler 3-pointer with 4:39 remaining, but Anthony knocked down back-to-back shots to key a 6-0 game-clinching run with less than two minutes left.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Knicks PF Andrea Bargnani struggled in his New York debut, scoring just six points on 3-of-9 shooting while turning the ball over three times in 17 minutes. ... Milwaukee committed 16 first-half turnovers. ... Bucks C Larry Sanders was limited to just 12 minutes after picking up his fifth foul early in the third quarter. He finished with zero points and four rebounds.
