Hornets 112, Cavaliers 92: Greivis Vasquez had 25 points and nine assists and Ryan Anderson made five 3-pointers while tallying 23 points as host New Orleans handed Cleveland its eighth straight loss.

Anthony Davis had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Brian Roberts scored 15 points and Eric Gordon added 14 as the Hornets completed a seven-game homestand with a 4-3 mark.

Kyrie Irving had 31 points on 11-of-20 shooting in his first outing since March 10 after missing eight contests with a shoulder injury. The eight-game skid is the Cavaliers’ longest of the campaign.

New Orleans trailed 49-48 at halftime before exploding for 36 points in the third quarter. Vasquez scored nine points during a 15-0 run that gave the Hornets a 12-point lead with 8:07 left in the third quarter.

The margin was 11 entering the final quarter before New Orleans opened the stanza with an 11-2 burst to take a 95-75 lead on a 3-pointer by Anderson with 6:28 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New Orleans was 12-of-21 from 3-point range. … Irving won’t play in Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, according to Cavaliers coach Byron Scott. … Vasquez was 10-of-14 from the field after missing two of the previous three games with an ankle injury.
